Morgan Griffith remembers 2007 Virginia Tech shooting in series of April interviews

Morgan Griffith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress as the representative for Virginia's 9th District, made a series of public addresses on April 16, 2025, through a series of social media posts. His communication touched on a memorial observance, the advocacy efforts of an Alzheimer’s association, and discussions with disabled individuals in Bedford County.

On April 16, 2025, Griffith marked the day by remembering the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007. He offered solidarity and condolences to the families affected by the incident. "Today, Virginia’s Ninth District and countless others remember the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007. Our communities routinely honor the memories of those we lost. We continue to pray for them and their families."

Later that day, Griffith met with constituents from the National Alzheimer’s Association, commending their efforts in the ongoing battle against Alzheimer's Disease. He expressed his support publicly, highlighting the association's commitment to advancing treatment for the disease. "Constituents from the National Alzheimer’s Association joined me for a meeting this week in the Ninth District. I commend them for their advocacy efforts in the battle to treat Alzheimer’s Disease." Griffith, aged 65, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1958 and currently resides in Salem. He has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 9th District since 2011.

In his final address of the day, Griffith engaged with disabled individuals and their families in Bedford County, specifically at enCircle. He discussed the various programs they offer and listened to community service providers while addressing Medicaid-related concerns. "This afternoon, I joined some Bedford-area disabled individuals, their families and community service providers at enCircle in Bedford County. They shared with me important details about their programs and I responded to their concerns about Medicaid." Griffith holds a BA from Emory and Henry College and a JD from Washington and Lee University.
