The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) has announced that Russell County, the Town of Abingdon, and the Town of Glade Spring have been awarded over $2,000,000 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG). These grants, funded by the federal government and administered by VDHCD, will be used to support various projects in the respective communities.
Russell County will receive $514,500 for the Tiller Trailer Park Waterline Extension Project. This project aims to improve water and utility infrastructure in the county, providing essential services to residents. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his support for this investment, stating, "These federally-funded investments in our communities allocate money to water and utility infrastructure improvements in Russell County."
The Town of Abingdon has been granted $945,259 for the Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center Project. This funding will enable the town to enhance access to dental care for its residents. In addition, the Town of Glade Spring will receive $702,584 for the Glade Spring Housing Rehab Project.
