The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded Jensen Hughes, located in Blacksburg, a $100,000 grant for a project involving a Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) to improve fire growth predictions. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Improvements in fire and building safety systems enhance public safety.
“This grant for $100,000 helps Jensen Hughes develop a computational model tool necessary for fire simulations and educating our fire protection community.”
The project awarded is entitled “Development of Efficient Pyrolysis Modeling for Accurate Fire Growth Predictions.”
Jensen Hughes uses their network of in-house lab facilities, led by the industry’s most well-respected scientists and engineers, to conduct testing under variable conditions and applications.
