Morgan Griffith, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 9th district, has recently shared his views on drug trafficking and border security through a series of tweets. Griffith, who has been serving in Congress since 2011 after replacing Rick Boucher, addressed the issue of Mexican cartels and their role in drug trafficking, as well as policies related to fentanyl control.

On February 1, 2025, Griffith highlighted the involvement of Mexican cartels in drug trafficking. He stated that "Mexican cartels are the world’s leading traffickers of fentanyl, meth, and other drugs." He also commented on former President Trump's actions: "This bold action by President Trump helps apply pressure on Mexico to fully cooperate with U.S. authorities in the fight against drug traffickers and on border security."

The following day, February 2, 2025, Griffith discussed the impact of current U.S. border policies under President Biden. He expressed that "Every community in America is a border community because of Biden open border policies." He praised President Trump for reversing these policies and emphasized support for legislation known as HALT Fentanyl: "President Trump is reversing those policies, and we can help him by passing HALT Fentanyl." He stressed the importance of defeating fentanyl: "The scourge of fentanyl must be defeated."

On February 3, 2025, Griffith reiterated his stance on keeping dangerous substances off American streets. He asserted that "America is safer when fentanyl-related substances are kept off our streets." Again advocating for legislative action with "Let’s pass HALT Fentanyl."
