Morgan Griffith, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 9th district, recently shared several updates on social media regarding federal prison security, sports regulations, and legislative efforts. Griffith has been serving in Congress since 2011 after replacing Rick Boucher and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates.
On February 10, 2025, Griffith expressed gratitude towards personnel from USP Lee, a high-security federal prison with over 1,300 inmates. He stated that "USP Lee is a high-security federal prison facility with more than 1,300 inmates. A group of their personnel visited my DC office this month, and I am thankful for their service to keep our prisons secure."
Later that day, Griffith commented on the Virginia High School League's (VHSL) decision to comply with an executive order by President Trump concerning gender participation in sports. He remarked that "After saying no last week, VHSL now says it will comply with President Trump’s Executive Order to keep men out of women’s sports! All female athletes in Virginia deserve to compete on a fair and level playing field. Any effort to undermine this goal is wrong."
On February 11, 2025, Griffith criticized attempts to prevent Republicans from reversing Biden-era executive regulations through consolidated legislation. He tweeted: "ICYMI: Griffith rails against efforts to deny Republicans an opportunity to overturn last-second Biden-era executive regulations with one bill."
