In a recent announcement, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin revealed plans to reconsider numerous EPA regulations. This move is being described as potentially the "biggest deregulatory action in U.S. history."
U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), who chairs the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Environment Subcommittee, expressed his support for this initiative. He stated, "Excessive overregulation of American industries is partly responsible for the demise of good-paying manufacturing jobs and affordable American energy."
Griffith further commented on Zeldin's actions, saying, "I welcome Administrator Zeldin’s actions to perform an agency review over many of these regulations." He also mentioned his anticipation for policies that align with the EPA’s 'Powering the Great American Comeback Initiative'. Griffith emphasized his commitment to supporting policies that aim to restore American energy dominance and prepare the United States for leadership in artificial intelligence.
The statement comes in light of Griffith's role in the 118th Congress as chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations. The Environment Subcommittee has already conducted hearings this year focusing on EPA's regulation of chemical manufacturing and administration of the Brownfields Program.
