Morgan Griffith celebrates local high school sports victories

Morgan Griffith, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 9th district since 2011, shared several updates on social media recently. Griffith's background includes service in the Virginia House of Delegates and educational achievements from Emory and Henry College and Washington and Lee University.

On March 14, 2025, Griffith celebrated the success of Wise County Central High School girls' basketball team with a tweet: "After a 30-point victory in the Class 2 state title game, Wise County Central High School girls are once again Class 2 hoops champions! Congratulations on the repeat championship!"

Later that day, Griffith expressed gratitude towards Chairman Chuck Grassley for his support regarding fentanyl legislation: "Thank you Chairman @ChuckGrassley for your words of support. Let’s continue fighting the fentanyl crisis and get the HALT Fentanyl Act passed the finish line!"

In another congratulatory message posted on March 14, he recognized George Wythe High School's achievement in basketball: "I’d like to congratulate the girls basketball team of George Wythe High School. Their victory in today’s Class 1 VHSL state title game is a tremendous accomplishment. Have fun celebrating and congratulations!"
