The U.S. Senate has approved a continuing resolution, H.R. 1968, known as the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. This decision is intended to prevent a government shutdown, with funding set to expire at 11:59 pm on Friday, March 14. The bill will now proceed to President Trump's desk for approval.
U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the passage of the bill, stating: "This government funding bill delivers critical funding to our border enforcement authorities and helps President Trump carry out his popular agenda of making government work more efficiently for the American people."
The U.S. House of Representatives had previously passed H.R. 1968 on Tuesday, March 11. Despite generally opposing continuing resolutions, Congressman Griffith released a statement explaining his support for this particular measure.
