The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded Sunset Holler, Inc. a $700,000 grant to support the Southern Gap Amphitheater Project. This initiative aims to create a 2,500-seat commercial-grade amphitheater in the region.
U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the funding, stating: “According to a feasibility study, a Southern Gap Amphitheater will create 8 full-time jobs and attract 64,000 new visitors annually.”
Griffith added, “This ARC grant for $700,000 helps Sunset Holler, Inc. boost regional tourism and support the local economy of deep Southwest Virginia.”
Sunset Holler, Inc. is collaborating with the Buchanan County Industrial Development Authority to redevelop the Southern Gap area. The project will include installing a mobile stage, seating, restrooms and administrative buildings, parking facilities, landscaping, and connection to local utilities.
