The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded People Incorporated of Virginia a grant of approximately $1.4 million for Head Start projects. The organization is based in Abingdon, Virginia.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the grant: "This grant for more than $1.4 million helps People Incorporated of Virginia advance services that promote childhood education and contribute to family development in rural communities."

People Incorporated of Virginia operates Head Start centers in Abingdon, Bristol, Glade Spring, and Lebanon. Additionally, it administers an Early Head Start program in Clintwood.

In June, the organization received another HHS grant amounting to $3,414,040 for similar projects.
