U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) has joined as an original cosponsor of two legislative measures aimed at enhancing disaster relief efforts. The Disaster Recovery and Resilience Act and the Helene Recovery Support Act have been introduced to address the challenges faced in the aftermath of major disasters.

The Disaster Recovery and Resilience Act is designed to streamline bureaucratic processes, allowing for quicker deployment of disaster recovery resources following a "major disaster" declaration by the President of the United States.

Meanwhile, the Helene Recovery Support Act proposes a $15 billion allocation to bolster disaster relief resources and aid small businesses in their recovery. Congressman Griffith expressed his support for these initiatives, stating: “Because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, many lives in Virginia’s Ninth District have been impacted. And I am proud to be an original cosponsor to both these critical measures to ensure the necessary resources are in place to assist persons and businesses afflicted by these natural disasters and to prepare our region and the country for future major disasters.”

The introduction of these bills took place on November 1, with U.S. Congressman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) joining Griffith in introducing the Disaster Recovery and Resilience Act. Additionally, Congressman Neal Dunn (R-FL) collaborated with them on introducing the Helene Recovery Support Act.
