Bluefield College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 19
The University of Pikeville Bears defeated the Bluefield University Rams 52-20 Saturday night in non-divisional Mid-South Conference football action.
The Bears opened a 14-0 lead and led 14-7 at the end of one. UPike extended its lead to 28-14 at halftime, and 35-14 after three quarters.
The Rams offense gained more than 400 yards as Nathan Herstich completed 14-of-35 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns, while Josh Nelson connected on 14-of-29 passes for 173 yards and a score. Antonio Strickland and Jaquan Ebron each caught nine passes and had a touchdown. Strickland garnered 138 yards, Ebron 111. Thomas Lee hauled in seven balls for 111 yards and a score. On the ground Latravious Johnson led the BU rushing attack with 68 yards.
Defensively DaMarcus Wimbush had 12 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass break-up. Charles Turner-Cox had eight stops and Ryan Smith picked up his first interception of the season.
The Rams return to Mitchell Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 25 for a non-divisional MSC contest with Georgetown College. It will be Community Day and kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
