Longwood Travels To High Point In Big South Opener

The Opening Tip:

• Longwood opens Big South conference play on the road against the High Point Panthers.
• The Panthers are coming off a season that saw them finish 17-14 (13-5 Big South), losing to Gardner-Webb in the second round of the Big South Tournament.
• Today's game will mark the 27th all-time Division-I matchup between the Lancers and the Panthers.
• Longwood is currently on a two-game winning streak against High Point and came out victorious in the two teams' only matchup last season by a score of 77-64 in North Carolina.
• The Lancers came out victorious against the Panthers on 2/26/21 with a 85-69 win, the program's first win against High Point since 2009 and first of the current two-game streak.
• After only facing High Point once a year ago, Longwood's first of two matchups against the Panthers will be played on the road in N.C.
• The Lancers were picked to finish sixth in the Big South while High Point was picked to finish first.

By The Numbers:

• Longwood lost to East Tennessee State on the road in its final non-conference game of the season 69-52.
• The game was only the second all-time Division-I matchup between the Lancers and the Buccaneers, with ETSU leading the series 2-0.
• Anne-Hamilton LeRoy led the way for Longwood with 12 points, her seventh double-digit scoring output of the season.
• Bailey Williams' seven rebounds were both a season and career-high.
• Alyssa Chapman's 11 points on an efficient five for seven from the field marked a season-high for the sophomore forward.
• Nine lead changes took place throughout the game.
• Longwood's 12 assists bested ETSU's 11 in the game.
