Henry County, USA - The U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has allocated $18,448 in funding to Henry County to support the overtime pay of local police officers who work on major crime scenes. This funding, provided through BJA’s fiscal year 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, aims to enhance law enforcement efforts and increase patrols in high crime areas.
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) expressed his satisfaction with the allocation, stating, "This funding by the Bureau of Justice Assistance will help increase the presence of law enforcement in high crime areas of Henry County and pay officers for their overtime work, ensuring they can continue to serve the citizens of Henry County to the best of their ability."
The grant will not only enable the Henry County police department to compensate officers for their additional hours worked but also provide the necessary resources to intensify patrols in areas with alarming crime rates. This proactive approach seeks to deter criminal activity, promote community safety, and enhance the overall quality of life for Henry County residents.
Law enforcement agencies in Henry County have long been dedicated to protecting their community. However, limited resources and financial constraints have hindered their ability to address the rising crime rates effectively. The funding from the BJA will help bridge this gap and empower officers to combat crime more efficiently.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program is a vital initiative that supports local law enforcement agencies across the United States. It provides essential resources to enhance crime prevention efforts, improve public safety, and strengthen the relationships between communities and the police force.
