There were 39 Black students enrolled in Grayson County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 8.3% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Grayson County Public Schools District welcomed 1,576 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 2.5% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Grayson County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Grayson County and has a main office in Independence.

Among the six schools in Grayson County Public Schools District, Grayson County High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
