There were 1,076 Black students enrolled in Martinsville City Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 1.9% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Martinsville City Public Schools District welcomed 1,807 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 59.5% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the school.

Martinsville City Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Martinsville City and has a main office in Martinsville.

Among the five schools in Martinsville City Public Schools District, Martinsville High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
