Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 1.2% of Washington County Public Schools District's student body in 2023-24 school year

There were 79 Black students enrolled in Washington County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 4.8% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Washington County Public Schools District welcomed 6,713 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 1.2% of the student body to be the fourth most represented ethnicity in the school.

Washington County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Washington County and has a main office in Abingdon.

Among the 15 schools in Washington County Public Schools District, Abingdon High School and Abingdon Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
