Wise County Public Schools District Education: 154 Black students were enrolled in 2023-24 school year

There were 154 Black students enrolled in Wise County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Wise County Public Schools District welcomed 5,883 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 2.6% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Wise County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Wise County and has a main office in Wise.

Among the 11 schools in Wise County Public Schools District, Union High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
