Bland County schools welcomed 53 9th-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 53 9th-grade students enrolled in Bland County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 13.1% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Bland County High School was the only school that welcomed 9th-grade students in the county.

Within Bland County schools, the largest number of students were found in 7th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Bland County ranked 125th in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 125th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
