The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, has allocated $347,608 to Biotherapeutics, Inc. in Blacksburg, Virginia. The funding is aimed at supporting research on lung disease related to asthma. According to the American Lung Association, over twenty-five million Americans have asthma, with one to two million experiencing severe forms of the condition.

U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) commented on the grant: "Our understanding and research of asthma therapeutics continues to grow. This grant for nearly $350,000 helps Biotherapeutics study and assess the next wave of asthma therapeutics."

This financial support comes from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants program. The program aims to stimulate technological innovation, leverage small businesses for federal research and development needs, and promote commercialization of innovations in the private sector.

Previously, in August and September 2024, Congressman Griffith announced that Biotherapeutics had received multiple grants totaling more than $640,000.
