Wythe County receives $1.495M loan for fire department upgrades

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded a $1.495 million loan to Wythe County, Virginia. This funding will be used to purchase four pumper trucks for the county's five fire departments.

Congressman Morgan Griffith commented on the development, stating, "This USDA Rural Development loan for nearly $1.5 million helps Wythe County purchase pumper trucks for their fire departments to better respond to public safety demands."

The funds are provided through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program. This program is designed to support essential community facilities in rural areas.

The specific fire departments in Wythe County that will receive these new pumper trucks include Speedwell, Max Meadows, Ivanhoe, and Barren Springs.
